Meet Dayna:
Hi, I'm Dayna Fernandes, LCSW, LCADC, PMH-C and founder of Nest & Nurture Behavioral Health.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Delaware and my Master of Social Work from Rutgers University, where I specialized in drug and alcohol counseling.
My ten years of clinical experience spans private practice, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient settings, giving me the opportunity to support individuals with a wide range of mental health and substance use concerns across different levels of care.
I completed Foundational Training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) through Behavioral Tech, and DBT remains the foundation of my work. I have seen firsthand how learning practical skills can transform the way people experience emotions, relationships, and life's challenges. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, I strive to help clients build lasting skills that support resilience, confidence, and a life that feels meaningful.
I am also certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) and enjoy supporting individuals through pregnancy, postpartum, fertility challenges, reproductive loss, and the transition to parenthood.
Whether you're navigating a major life transition, recovery from substance use, anxiety, depression, or difficulties with emotion regulation, my goal is to create a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you feel supported while building the tools to create lasting change.

My Philosophy:
Therapy is more than a place to process—it's a place to build the skills for a life worth living.
I believe meaningful change begins with awareness.
When we slow down, become mindful of our thoughts and emotions, and learn new ways of responding to life's challenges, we create opportunities for lasting growth.
My approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies, particularly Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which teaches practical skills for navigating difficult emotions, improving relationships, and living with greater intention.
My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you not only feel supported, but also empowered with the confidence and tools to continue growing long after our sessions end.
